1. Syringe Injection
The sample can
be injected on the front of the system, which will pass directly onto the
column. The samples need to be filtered before injection. We also offer
syringe filters from Whatman, so the sample can be filtered directly into the
injection port on the system. This works well with samples that are thick or
have a lot of particulate. |

2. Liquid Reservoir Injection
This allows for small to larger volumes of liquid to be injected. It works
similar to syringe injection, except the sample is injected by pressurizing the
liquid reservoir. It also provides a way to stop the injection and wash the
entire sample onto the column. |
 |
3. Direct Solid/liquid Reservoir Injection
This method can be used for samples that are difficult to inject on the column,
like thick liquids with particulate. The advantage of this is no sample
filtering before injection. This injection system goes directly into the
injection port on the system or can be placed on top of the column. A filter
(RTSI-50) is place on top of the end fitting which has a 10-20 µm glass frit
inside. The sample is added and pressurized onto the column. |

4. Solid Reservoir Injection
This method
provides an effective way to inject samples that have been pre-absorbed to
silica. This injection system goes in line with the column and allows the
removal of the air in the injection reservoir before the sample is passed onto
the column. The column can be pre-condition before solvent is passed though the
injection reservoir. |
 |
5. Direct Solid/liquid Reservoir Injection
This method is good for samples of low solubility that can be pre-absorbed and
added to reservoir column as above. This injection system goes directly on top
of the column and the pre-absorbed sample is added. This can also be used to add
a liquid sample onto silica similar to a conventional column. |
 |
6. EZ-Pass with Direct Solid/liquid Reservoir Injection
This method allows the
pre-absorbed sample to be prepared in the injection column. All steps take
place in the injection column without removing the sample. This is done by
adding silica gel to the injection column followed by the sample that has been
dissolved in a soluble solvent. Some of the solvent is allowed to evaporate and
the injection column is placed on a standard rotary evaporator with the EZ-Pass
adapter and the remaining solvent removed with no loss of silica gel into the
evaporator. Additional drying can be done on a vacuum line if desired. The dry
pre-absorbed sample in the injection column in placed on top of the main column
and separated. |
