We offer columns from 6 grams to 1.3 Kg to accomplish most separations. Using the chart below will help in selecting the right column for your separation using normal phase silica.

DRf is the difference in Rf valves with the top spot moving 50% up the plate. Example: Top spot Rf = 0.5 and the bottom spot Rf = 0.4, DRf = 0.5-0.4 = 0.1

 

 

Flow rates of columns with 25% Ethyl acetate/75% Hexane

Our packed ACE Glass Inc., Michel-Miller column with PTFE fittings results in a product that is inert to most chromatography conditions. Our columns will not swell or leak as plastic cartridges do. The packing process results in columns that are packed tight for repeated use or preconditioning and use later. However, we have priced our columns to that of one-time use columns (see the columns section for pricing). Below is a table of flow rates of our normal phase silica packed columns:

The flow rates of the 880 g and 1.3 Kg at 50 psi are 73.0 mL and 53.0 mL respectively.
Dead Volume (Air space) of columns is approximately 1.25 ml for every 1 gram of silica gel.
